Repeat champion

BEMEDALED trackster Andrea de Guia shone brightest for Unit 3 secondary girls team, sweeping three individual golds and two relay golds in the Davao City Athletic Association (Dcaa) Meet 2018 athletics competition that closed at the Davao City National High School (DCNHS) grounds on Friday, October 19.

De Guia, who won three individual golds in the Batang Pinoy Mindanao Leg in Oroquieta City after a similar feat in the Davraa Meet 2018 in Davao City, collected the golds in 3,000-meter run, 1,500m and 400m.

The Toril-based ace also helped her team clinch the secondary girls 4X100 and 4X400 golds.

She also won five golds in last year's edition of the Dcaa Meet.

"Nakuha nako ang five golds kay naningkamot ko na madaog among team din nag training pud ko og maayo (I got five golds because I worked hard for our team to win and I really trained hard)," she told SunStar Davao in a Facebook interview on Friday.

She was inspired by her coach, chaperone, trainers, teammates and mother.

The Doña Carmen Denia National High School Grade 11 student also said that she is upbeat about preparing for the Davraa Meet 2019 that the city will again be hosting.

She added, "Excited nako mag-training. Focus lang ko sa training (I am excited to train. I will focus on training)."

The Department of Education Davao City will have yet to release official results and overall medal tally.
