2 houses razed by fire

TWO houses were razed in separate fire incidents that hit in Bacolod City on Friday morning.

The first incident was in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City at around 5 a.m.

Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Fire Marshal Chief Inspector Publio Plotena said the fire broke out from the ceiling of the house of Cesario Lamela, which was made of mixed light and concrete materials.

No casualties were reported.

The BFP said the defective electrical wiring was the cause of the fire which destroyed an estimated damage of P100, 000.

Two hours later, the BFP received another fire call, which was in Barangay 13.

Plotena said the fire started from the second floor of the house of Rodrigo Ortigoza Jr., which was made of mixed light and concrete materials.

Ortigoza sustained minor burns after he tried to save some of their belongings.

The fire left an estimated damage of P80, 000.

Plotena said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire as the investigation is still ongoing.

Plotena reminded the public to always check the electrical connection before leaving the house, and if an appliance smokes or has an unusual smell, unplug it immediately and have it repaired.

Plotena also encouraged the public to replace any electrical wires which are cracked or frayed. Don’t overload extension wires or run them under rugs.

Don’t tamper with the fuse box or use fuses of an improper size, he said. MAP
