P196,000 worth of 'shabu' seized in drug bust

AN ESTIMATED P196,000 worth of suspected "shabu" (methamphetamine hydrochloride) was seized in separate drug busts in Bacolod and Silay City in the past two days.

In Bacolod City, police identified the suspects as Joan Mifa of Purok 4, Barangay Singcang-Airport; and Alfrederick Diaz, 27, of Purok Kamansi, Barangay Banago.

Mifa allegedly sold a sachet of shabu to a police agent for P500 in her house at about 2 a.m.

Operatives of Police Station 8 recovered seven sachets of suspected shabu, the P500 marked money, P350 in cash and drug paraphernalia.

The police said the confiscated illegal drugs, weighing six grams, has an estimated market value of P76,000.

Mifa, who is detained at the custodial facility of the police station, is facing drug charges.

In Silay City, Diaz was also arrested after he sold sachets of suspected shabu to police agent for P7,000 at Buenavista Subdivision Phase 3 in Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City Thursday evening.

Superintendent Noel Polines, chief of Silay City Police Station, said Diaz is included on their target list.

Police recovered from Diaz’s possession 10 sachets of suspected shabu, the P7,000 marked money, cellular phone, and drug paraphernalia.

Polines said the recovered illegal drugs, weighing 10 grams, has an estimated market value P120,000.

He said the confiscated illegal drugs were brought to Regional Crime Laboratory Office in Iloilo City for the drug test and laboratory examination.

Diaz is detained at the custodial facility of Silay City Police Station and facing drug charges.
