Alleged drug personality killed in Macasandig

LESS than 24 hours after a man was killed in a drug bust, police killed another suspected drug personality in another anti-drugs operation in Buena Oro, Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City, Friday, October 19.

Operatives shot to death a certain Fernando Abejuela, who allegedly used another name Dominador Bastismo Camanian, at around 10:00 p.m. Friday.

He was killed on the same day as Wilmark Maestre, who was killed by police in a drug bust in Gusa Friday dawn.

Authorities claimed that Abejuela fired a 38-caliber revolver and pulled the pin of an MK2 fragmentation grenade forcing the operatives to retaliate.

The suspect sustained two gunshot wounds on his chest and on his face.

Senior Inspector Mario Mantala, police station 9 chief, said the suspect had been freed from detention after serving his sentence for drug charges.

Mantala said the suspect was also involved in other crimes such as robbery and theft in the barangay.

"Usa ni siya sa problema ni Kapitan Rodriguez sa Nazareth. Mao ni usa sa kusog nga drug pusher sa area ug involved pud ni siya sa robbery ug theft incidents (Kapitan Rodriguez tagged him as a problem in Nazareth. Aside from being a drug pusher in the area, he is also involved in robbery and theft)," he said.

Abejuela was the eighth drug suspect killed in the city in the last two quarters of 2018.

Superintendent Mardy Hortillosa II, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), said the result of the probe conducted by the Internal Affairs Service on the seven drug-related killings is not yet out.

"Hangtod karon wala pa man personnel nato nga nahatagan silot sa 7 ka incident nga namatay ang suspects so it means wala pay nahimo nga kalapasan atong mga police (Until now, our personnel have not received any punishments on the 7 incidents of killings, so it means they did not violate)," Hortillosa said.
