THE City Government of Baguio received an award in the 2018 Digital Cities Philippines Awards for Best Practices in eGovernance during the program held last October 12 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila.
Baguio was awarded third Best in eGovernance Customer Empowerment (G2C) through the Online Public Assistance and Complaint Desk (PACD).
The city’s Registry of Allotment and Obligations System also gained nomination in the Best in Data-Driven Governance Award or (D2G) category.
Both were programs of the Management Information Technology Division of the City Budget Office under Budget Officer Leticia Clemente.
A total of 36 local government units (LGUs) joined and fielded 65 entries in the honors program jointly undertaken by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP).
The DILG Office headed by Evelyn Trinidad presented the award to city officials led by Mayor Mauricio Domogan while the city budget office represented by assistant budget officer Severina De Leon and the MITD personnel headed by Mario Rosendo Diaz Jr.
Started in 2012 in honor of the late DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo, the awards program aims “to highlight and encourage the effective delivery of services by LGUs and to replicate their innovative practices to serve as example and benchmarks to other LGUs.”
It also aims to improve the business development, social services and the ecosystem of the LGUs and motivate the private and business sector to actively participate and invest in the growth of the LGUs.
One city, one province, and one municipality were declared champion per category based on four major criteria: Innovative management, Impact, Relevance (25 points) and Replication potential and sustainability. (PR)
