Police report zero incident during COC filing

THE Police Regional Office (PRO) in Zamboanga Peninsula announced that the period for the

filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2019 midterm elections was generally peaceful in the region, with zero crime incident recorded.

Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis Licup, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, attributed the zero crime incident to their persistent efforts to ensure the safety and security of the 1,030 candidates seeking elective posts in the region.

Licup said some 3,227 policemen were deployed in Comelec offices from October 11 to 17, the schedule for the filing of COCs.

He said the men were assigned to police assistance desks, traffic management, civil disturbance management, checkpoints and other public safety services.

He said the police, in coordination with the military and Commission on Elections, will

continue to monitor the situation, especially areas with history of election-related incidents.
