Mayor eyes creation of command center for disaster preparedness

MAYOR Jose Espinosa III is planning to create a command center for disaster preparation at the City Hall's Penthouse 2.

In a talk with reporters on Monday, October 22, Espinosa said that the Taiwan government will distribute about twenty “listening post” and they required to establish a command center for the operations of the equipment.

Espinosa sought to set up the command center on top of the building and he is looking at converting the Iloilo City Hall’s Penthouse 2.

He added that there is a current command center situated at the Delgado Street, City Proper however, it only has one floor.

Espinosa said it is highly possible that a tsunami could occur due to an earthquake thus it is important to establish the command center in higher elevation.

The Taiwanese government plans to bring three or four equipment as a start.

Espinosa is looking at the option of using the 4-story building located between the new grandstand and Ker and Co. Building to place the equipment.
