RUFFA SORONGON continued to dominate the long-distance running in Cebu, winning another 21-kilometer race a week after her triumph in the Milo Marathon Cebu Leg. The Cebu-based runner, who hails from Sultan Kudarat, clocked 1 hour, 38 minutes and 55 seconds to win the women’s half-marathon crown in the 2018 Gaisano Capital Anniversary Run at the Plaza Independencia.
The 28-year-old runner beat Lovely Fe Andrin and Eva Mae Villaran, who clocked 1:39.52 and 1:46.44, respectively. Sorongon made it two in a row in a long distance run following the win in the 21K race of the Milo Marathon Cebu Leg last Oct. 14 that got her a spot in the national finals in Laoag City in December.
Agustin Ychon won the men’s 21K in 1:22.26 over Joseph Arne Emia (1:24.13), while Desederio Engbino settled for third place with a time of 1:32.50. (RSC)
