Remolino to apply new training style

CEBUANO triathlon coach Roland Remolino is thrilled to apply the things he learned from a seminar in Thailand to the training program of Cebu’s young prospects.

The national team coach Remolino joined the Development Triathlon Coaching Course at the Lae Mae Phim Beach in Rayong Thailand last Oct. 19 to 21 together with the six other national team coaches.

“I’ve learned new things that are very useful to the training of my triathletes. I really absorbed all the things that were discussed. I wrote notes and took pictures on the programs,” said Remolino, who handles 38 triathletes in Team Go For Gold and in the Talisay Luigi Triathlon Group.

The three-day seminar spearheaded by the Asian Triathlon Federation head coach Peter Clifford tackled triathletes’ nutrition, proper training program and high-performance training.

He said that the seminar was a mix of discussion and actual race situation. The coaches were asked to observe on an actual swim, bike and run training.

“I’m really a dreamer and I want my athlete to become a contender in Asia. I hope these training information can help them progress,” said Remolino.

Among the top students of Remolino are national team member Andrew Kim Remolino, developmental team members Renz Wynn Corbin, CJ Lipura, Moira Frances Erediano and Nicole Marie Del Rosario.

“My dream for Kim (Remolino) is to qualify for the Southeast Asian (Sea) Games in 2019 and for the other triathletes to make it on top of the junior triathlon level,” he said.

The 30th Sea Games will be hosted by the Philippines next year. (RSC)
