UNIT 6 captured the Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) Meet elementary boys basketball tournament gold medal after crushing Unit 2, 85-58, in their titular showdown held at the Southern Philippines Baptist Theological Seminary School in Lippy, Puan last Friday, October 19.

The Harry Hipolito-coached Unit 6 capitalized on its powerhouse cast of Samuel Nathan Torres, Jose Julio Garcia, Felix Justin Domingo, Eio Julianne Rosco, Jethro Matthew Andrion and Sean Andrew Hilay of Ateneo de Davao University (Addu), who were the core players of the team that also won the Davao Association of Catholic Schools (Dacs) Sportsfest this year.

Unit 6 was also reinforced by Marco James Sabio, Nathaniel Jose Billiran and Adriane Macavinta of Assumption College of Davao (ACD) and Jian Torres, Miguel Bacalso and Karl Dominic Te of Stella Maris Academy of Davao (Smad) to secure a ticket to the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 209 slated next year in Davao City.

"This year's team is the most complete in all aspects that I have the opportunity to handle. It has height, heft, speed, talent and basketball IQ. If we combine it with effort and heart, I think we can go all the way to the Palarong Pambansa 2019," said Hipolito wo acquire the Neil Layougue of F. Bustamante Elementary School (FBES) and Klent Plarisan of V. Hizon Sr. Elementary School (VHSES) of Unit 2.

Hipolito, who had his debut of coaching Davao City team in the Palarong Pambansa last 2017 in Antique, guns for the regional and national title as Davao City will be hosting it both in 2019.

"We want to win it all that is why I really beefed up the line up to compete until Palaro," he said.
