PROMOTING safety and fuel efficiency, the Yamaha Motor Philippines Inc. has begun the second leg of the Yamaha Sight Saferun last Sunday, October 21, in its Revzone along Lapasan Highway, Cagayan de Oro City.

Thirty-eight participating Yamaha Sight riders took on the five and a half hour safety and fuel efficiency challenge which started from Lapasan to Claveria, to Gingoog City then back to Gusa as their last checkpoint.

“Kung sino yung may pinakamalayong marating with their gasoline consumption, yun yung declared winner namin. Hindi ibigsabihin na una kang dumating dito, ikaw na yung winner. Magbe-base kami dun sa fuel consumption na nakuha not on how fast you come back here,” Toni Boi Acuesta, are marketing operation supervisor, said.

They will be picking out 10 Sight riders from the 38 participants to compete in the final leg of the challenge on November 18 in Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.

The selected riders in Cagayan de Oro will compete with another 10 who won in the Davao leg and the 10 who will be selected in the coming third qualifying leg in Zamboanga.

“We want everyone to appreciate na yung isang litro mo, using Yamaha Sight, ganito kalayo ang napunpuntahan. Yung challenge namin sa kanila, saan aabot ang isang litro mo. So dapat ang isang litro nila makaabot ng Gingoog. So yun ang pinaka main challenge,” Acuesta said.

According to Acuesta, the riders should achieve either near or over the 129 kilometer per liter standard, the mark achieved by Robby Malapitan during the Petron Safe Run using the Yamaha Sight 115.

Apart from taking the standard mark into consideration, the riders should also mind the rules and regulations in the road as they cannot escape from the traffic experienced in the city.

“They should follow din the rules of the area. Kasi we promote safety and pag sunod sa proper rule anad regulations,” Acuesta said.

The winners of the Saferun Challenge in the final leg will receive prizes: P30,000 for the first placer, P20,000 for the second placer, and P10,000 for the third placer.

Aside from the cash prize, each of the winners will receive a trophy and a Yamaha Sight motorcycle.

Acuesta said through this event, they will also be able to promote their motorcycles that perform well and are fuel efficient.

“Gusto namin ma promote - the motorcycle that we have. Our motorcycles have a performance kasi fuel injected and at the same time fuel efficient. Most of our customers, they are looking for motorcycle na fuel efficient,” Acuesta said.

“You didn't have to go fast, you didn't have to go as slow as you can. We encourage everyone to ride motorcycle in a safe manner,” he added.

Acuesta also mentioned that after the final leg in Mindanao, they have plans on visiting Visayas or Luzon for a nationwide competition of the Yamaha Sight Saferun.
