OVER a hundred mothers all over Cagayan de Oro have gathered in Centrio Ayala Mall's event center for the annual Expo Mom conducted by Mommy Mundo, together with the Professional Organizers Unlimited Inc., last Saturday, October 20.

Mommy Mundo is a community of moms dedicated to making motherhood easier, happier, and more fulfilling for every mom through various avenues and activities.

Anchored on this year's theme: Mompowerment, Expo Mom, is an event for mothers to get together and share common experiences.

“It’s celebrating empowered mothers. So that's why we had mga mom empowerment talks. So we share experiences on how we can be empowered as mothers. Even if we stay at home, there are ways that we can empower ourselves to help our families, uplift our financial status,” Angela Kho, vice president of Professional Organizers Unlimited Inc., said.

The expo was participated by around 30 exhibitors which includes: Avon, Baby Leaf, Bern'z, Bluejay baby, Bum Bum Shop, Creo Early Learning Partners, Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro, Customized Lab, Doterra Therapy, Food Processors Association of Northern Mindanao (Fopa NorMin), Foodie Mama's, Funscape Mobile Party Playtown, Hyla Philippines, Janica's Wardrobe, Keana PH, Kuletz Footwear, Lunhaw PH, Milky Mix Lactation Cookies, Oily Mundo, Party Playground, Prulife, Quadsbite & Freeze, Sanicare, Signature 29, Streetby, Sweetbaby, Tempra and Weewan Shop.

“We have vendors who came all the way from Manila to join the event and we also have mga selected local vendors,” Kho said.

Talks were also done during the event to inspire mothers to be more empowered, such as How to make The Big Brave Leap from Corporate Mommy to Momentrepreneur and Breastfeeding Game Plan for the Working Mom.

The Streetby showed the mommies present in the event on how to take their home business online. Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro City, for their part, also shared negosyo recipes for stay-at-home moms, while Donnie Galiego of Dream Board Artist discussed how to encourage their musically-inclined kids.

“We try to find ways to help our mothers to be more empowered like another way to empower them is to teach them how to be more financially stable, like they can earn sideline, or they can earn from the home. That's why our topics are also like that,” Kho said.

Mommy Mundo also invited Kitchie Uy of Passionista to teach moms how to look “glam” in 15 to 20 minutes.

“We are here to empower women, to help them be the role models not only for young moms but also for our children,” Helen Grace Uy of Mommy Mundo, and the managing director of Profesional Organizers Unlimited Inc., said.

Apart from the talks and demos, selected exhibitors were given awards for Best Booth and Most Popular Booth during the event.

Creo Early Learning Partners, Bluejay Baby and Babyleaf were awarded as top 3 Best Booth. Foodie Mama's, Milky Mix and Fopa NorMin were recognized as top three Best Booths in the Food Category. And Weewan Shop, Bum Bum Shop, and Customize Lab won top three Most Popular Booths.

Expo Mom is an annual trade expo of mom and baby products which was first established in 2008 in Manila.

With its interactive exhibit, shopping bazaar, onstage activities and the spirit of active and happy moms all in one venue, the event was a true celebration of what motherhood is all about.
