SA wala’y pagduhaduha, nagtuo ang beteranong basketball scout nga si Salva Mendez nga makaduwa sa National Basketball Association (NBA) ang batan-ong Pinoy nga higante nga si 7’2” kai Sotto.
Ang Spain-based nga talent scout mikumpara kang Sotto sa 7’3” nga pambatong sentro sa New York Knicks nga si Kristaps Porzingis.
Si Mendez maoy responsable sa pagdala kang Porzingis gikan sa Latvia ngadto sa Spain una kini nakasulod sa NBA.
Kon magiyahan lang og insakto, nagtuo si Salva nga makaduwa na sa NBA ang 15 anyos nga si Sotto lima ka mga tuig gikan karon.
“They are more of less at same level, same age,” matod ni Mendez nga napatik sa Spin.ph.
“But Kai is taller at same age. Kristaps at 15 was (only) 6-11.”
Kon abilidad ang hisgutan, aduna sab dako nga potensyal si Sotto, asoy ni Mendez.
“I see many things in him that I feel he can be an NBA material. Not only his size, also he got skills, special post moves. He can shoot and run the court well,” pasabot ni Mendez.
“Also seems intelligent and with desire to win and learn. And he is hungry. Kai has all the elements to become an NBA player in four or five years.”
Gitambagan ni Mendez ang Ateneo Blue Eaglets star nga dawaton niini ang tanyag gikan sa usa ka team sa Spain.
“Go to Real Madrid, it can be the fastest way to reach the NBA. Kai is an NBA material without a doubt,” dugang ni Mendez.
Sa sayo pa, ang coach sa Ateneo Blue Eagles nga si Tab Baldwin misugyot nga dili angay dawaton ni Sotto ang tanyag sanglit nakahan-ay na ang program sa Ateneo alang kaniya. ESL
