THE Philippine National Police (PNP) in Eastern Visayas distributed 31 brand new single cab Toyota Hi-Lux patrol jeeps and other tactical equipment worth P70,504,164 on Monday, October 22.

“By priority, we use the move and communication equipment. We provide them with mobility to expand their reach up to barrios and sitios,” said Police Chief Superintendent Dionardo Carlos, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Eastern Visayas director during the turnover ceremony at Camp Ruperto Kangleon in Palo, Leyte.

Carlos thanked the national government and municipal mayors for their “unwavering support” to the PNP while urging the mobile units to maintain the quality of the patrol jeeps worth P1,108,500 each.

“It's high time that we really take care of them. If we need additional gasoline and ammunition, we will request from the national headquarters,” Carlos added.

“The vehicles and other equipment will be in great relief in strengthening the operational, intelligence, and administrative functions that the PRO8 will undertake. This will ensure a better and effective delivery of police services to our stakeholders in maintaining peace and order and in the campaign against criminality and illegal drugs,” said the police director in a statement.

Aside from the vehicles, the policemen received 15 units 7.62mm light machine guns, 329 undershirt vests level III-A, 224 enhanced combat helmet level III, and 60 magazine boxes with pouch including parts, accessories, and ammunitions amounting to P36,140,664.
