Yabut says he provides voters an alternative in 2019 polls

AN OPTIMISTIC congressional aspirant Ricardo Yabut told SunStar Pampanga that the voters of Pampanga’s fourth district now have an alternative choice of whom to vote for congressional representative in the 2019 midterm polls.

In a chance interview in the City of San Fernando, Yabut said that his decision to run was prompted by his desire to promote genuine change in the district through legislation. He added that there are people in the district who are yearning for change.

Asked if he could win the campaign against the “well-oiled” machinery of his opponent, Yabut said that he is pitching his campaign on the support of the people and his own team of supporters. He added that running as independent would give more freedom in reaching out to different sectors of the districts and its various political factions.

For the fourth legislative district, it will be a three-way contest between incumbent Fourth District Representative Juan Pablo “Rimpy” Bondoc (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan-Kambilan), Yabut and one Regino Mallari (independent). Of the last two contenders, Yabut is considered as the most serious challenge to the Bondoc hold on the fourth district.

Yabut was a former three-term board member and consistently earned the highest number of votes during his provincial stint.

Yabut vowed to address the needs of various groups and sectors through legislation as well as lobby for more infrastructure and development projects for the district if elected. He said that if given a chance to serve as fourth district representative, he will push for laws that would have impact on the working class, the youth and the urban poor not just in his district but in the entire country.
