Korean boyband to join MassKara Festival

THE Korean Pop (K-Pop) boyband will join the 39th MassKara Festival celebration in Bacolod City on October 27.

Councilor Em Ang, action officer of the MassKara Festival, said yesterday the Rion Five K-Pop boyband will hold a free concert at the Government Center on October 27 at 7 p.m.

The Rion Five K- Pop members include Rayun, Minjae, Taewoo, Jonghyun, and Yuseong. They used to have a sixth member, Kangsan.

The group was formed by Narda Entertainment and debuted on March 25, 2014, with their carrier single, “Crush On You.”

Ang said this is the participation of the International Mask Arts and Culture Organization International Conference 2019 Commemorative Cultural Events which in November 2019, Bacolod City will host.

Aside from the Rion Five, Ang said the concert will also feature the Bukcheong Lion Dance of South Korea and Sichuan Opera Troupe of China.

Ang noted the Imaco will be paying for the Korean artists which include its travel expenses and hotel accommodations.

“There are no expenses on the part of the city government and it’s the first time that a Korean boy band will join the MassKara Festival activities,” Ang said.

She said this will be a one hour concert and it’s going to be exciting and very interesting.

Ang recalled that on September 28 to October 7, Bacolod also sent the MassKara Festival dancers to the Andong Mask Dance Festival in Andong City, South Korea.

She said the MassKara dancers bagged the bronze medal out of 13 countries at the World Mask Dance Competition, a major competition of the Andong Mask Dance Festival.

She said that Bacolod City, which represented the Philippines, is the only Asian city that was included in the Top 3.
