Suspected pusher killed in Cordova shootout

A 31-year-old suspected pusher was killed in a shootout with the police at 6:13 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, in Purok Calachuchi, Barangay Gilutongan, Cordova, Cebu.

The fatality was identified as Mark "Caday" Jumao-as, who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

His alleged cohorts Jose Junil Ocaba Nacua, 30, and Lito Sabusab Andales, 28, were arrested by the anti- narcotics operatives after they did not resist.

Seized from the suspects were 10.33 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, worth P121,894, a Dangerous Drugs Board value. A.38 revolver was also recovered from Jumao-as, who reportedly drew it after sensing he was dealing with the police.

Jumao-as failed to hit any of the operatives, who retaliated and hit him.

The operatives, led by Cebu Provincial Intelligence Branch, rushed Jumao-as to the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Andales and Nacua will be facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (KAL)
