ZAMBOANGA CITY -- A policeman was killed in a gun attack on Tuesday, October 23, by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province.
Superintendent Gilzen Niño Manese, Isabela City police chief, identified the fatality as Police Officer 3 Jayton Lagdameo, who was shot in the head.
Manese said Lagdameo was shot and killed around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday in Purok 4, Barangay Menzi, Isabela City.
Lagdameo was driving a motorcycle on the way home to Sitio Concepcion in the village of Lumbang, Isabela City, when the attack happened. The gunmen, onboard a motorcycle, tailed the policeman.
An empty shell of a caliber .45 pistol was recovered from the crime scene, said Manese.
Police said the attack could be drug-related, since Lagdameo, as an investigator, was handling several illegal drug-related cases. (SunStar Philippines)
