THE City Council during last Monday’s regular session has approved on first reading significant proposals. The new measures introduced and referred to the proper committees include a proposed ordinance by Vice Mayor Edison Bilog entitled “Prohibiting the use of lead-coated paint brushes and other non-food grade utensils in the preparation of food in the City of Baguio.” Councilor Leandro Yangot Jr., chairman of the Committee on Market Trade and Commerce, proposal is entitled “Establishing the Search for the Most Child-Friendly Public Schools Award in the City of Baguio.”
Meanwhile, Committee on Lands, Housing and Urban Planning chairman and Councilor Edgar Avila has five new proposed ordinances. These include “An ordinance declaring Assessment Real Property No. (ARPN) 01-01002-40327 measuring 49,620 square meters, more or less located at Pinsao Proper Barangay as relocation site for displaced settlers of Cabinet Hill, Teachers Camp Barangay as well as victims of typhoon Ompong along Lions Head and as site of a low cost housing project of the National Housing Authority (NHA) for qualified housing beneficiaries of the said areas in the City of Baguio and for other purposes.”
He also filed “An ordinance declaring ARPN 01-01002-42173 measuring 129,414 square meters, more or less located at Irisan Barangay as the new public cemetery of the city and providing guidelines for its use, operation and maintenance, including the collection of fees and charges and imposition of penalties for violations thereof and for other purposes.”
Other proposed ordinances he filed which has something to do with land use include “An ordinance declaring ARPN 01-01002-42173 measuring 51,209 square meters, more or less located at Pinsao Proper Barangay and/or ARPN 2013-06-018-130827 measuring 64,797 square meters, more or less located at Loakan Proper, as site of a low cost socialized housing project of the NHA and/or any other government agency for qualified housing beneficiaries in the City.” Proposed Ordinance Nr. 0207-18 entitled “An ordinance imposing the twenty percent (20%) socialized housing share from developers of condominiums, subdivisions and other real estate endeavors” and Proposed Ordinance Nr. 0208-18 entitled “An ordinance providing for comprehensive and continuing development program for the urban poor sector and appropriating funds for the purpose.
