Public warned against City Hall impostors

ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar warned the public against impostors claiming to be representatives of the city government offering jobs or medicines in exchange of financial considerations.

Salazar issued the warning as Police Station 5 personnel arrested on Sunday in Divisoria village a 35-year-old woman who has been collecting P1,500 from people in exchange of work at City Hall.

The amount, according to complainants, was purportedly for the purchase of uniforms for the “hired employees.”

Salazar said such activity is not sanctioned by the city government and should any be victimized or contacted by unscrupulous individuals to have them report these incidents to the City Mayor’s Office or police authorities.

Reports of unscrupulous individuals also misrepresenting the local government offering medicines in exchange of monetary considerations have also reached the authorities and these alleged impostors are now being hunted.

The suspect, Julie Ann Francisco also known as Rhian Ramos of Sitio Luyahan, Pasonanca, was arrested on Sunday, October 21.

The police reported that Francisco has been able to collect money from more or less 40 persons she supposedly recruited in Divisoria, Luyahan and other villages.

Francisco was also a subject of similar offense that took place in the village of Tetuan sometime April this year but no formal charges were filed by the complainants. (SunStar Philippines)
