Women's group rues Train Law

WITH high inflation rates and weakening peso, a women’s group said President Rodrigo Dutere failed the Filipino people’s aspiration of change.

During the protest action conducted by the different militant groups at the Freedom Park, on Tuesday, October 23, Gabriela-Southern Mindanao Region said that the economic policies of Duterte such as Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (Train) Law is one of the root causes of the “failing economy”.

“Sila lang naman ang nagsabi na may terorismo. Para sa amin ang terorismo ay yung Train Law. Pagtaas ng pangunahing bilihin, yung pagmahal ng presyo ng bigas,” Bai Ali Indayla, 2nd nominee of Gabriela Party List, said in an interview on Tuesday.

The group said under the Duterte regime, price of rice increased by around P8 to P14 per kilo and meat at Bankerohan public market increased by P15 to P20 per kilo.

The group further claimed that they are only raising legitimate concerns that the present administration must answer.

“Dahil sa pag-remember ng peasant and IP month, aming ipinapakita ang patuloy na pagkondena, kasama ang hanay ng mga kababaihan, lalo na sa mga lumad at magsasaka na naging biktima ng martial law,” Indayla said.

“Gusto naming ipakita sa pamamagitan ng kilos protesta na ito at iparatating kay President Duterte ang panawagan namin na talagang wakasan na ang martial law,” adding that "it has been more than a year and no good result has ever come out of it,” she said.
