Cabigting to bring back impact legislation to Angeles City

COMEBACKING vice-mayoralty candidate Vicky Vega-Cabigting hopes to bring back impact legislation to Angeles City by crafting more laws that are relevant and empowering.

Cabigting is no stranger to city politics, having served as councilor and later as three term vice-mayor of the city. She was known to enjoy a good following and considerable popularity among the city’s voting population.

The lady politician is known for standing up for her political convictions in the face of opposition. She is also a known supporter of women’s rights and gender empowerment.

Cabigting is the runningmate of mayoralty aspirant and opposition Councilor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.

Cabigting said her legislative work will focus on supporting as well as scrutinizing the programs of her runningmate if given a chance to serve as vice-mayor.

Her legislative agenda will center on providing basic quality services to Angeleños such as improvement of public health services, education, and extensive solid waste management program.

She will also support Lazatin's campaign promise to push for the implementation of R.A. 9709, otherwise known as the “Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Intervention Act of 2009,” by establishing a Newborn Screening Center in Angeles City.

Cabigting said she will support the move of Lazatin to push for the amendment to the Charter of the City College of Angeles (CCA) that seeks to subsidize tuition to give all youths an opportunity to have a degree.

Additionally, she will also support Lazatin's would-be initiative to grant a “non-wage” benefit to all public school teachers, in the form of free tertiary education at the City College of Angeles (CCA) for one of their dependents.

“We need more legislation that impacts the current needs of the city and its people. I am ready to bring such legislation into the city council,” Cabigting said.

She added that she will also look into the possible return of the Local School Board (LSB) allowance of public school teachers.
