THE defending champions University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Green Lancers and the University of Cebu (UC) Junior Webmasters will open their best-of-three finals series in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) juniors’ basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum today.
The Baby Green Lancers made it to the championship round for the third straight season after an 89-65 rout of the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) Baby Panthers in the semifinals last Saturday.
The Green Lancers finished the single-round robin elimination on top of the standing with eight wins against one loss.
When UV and UC clashed in the elimination round last Sept. 9, it was the Green Lancers who got the better of the Junior Webmasters, 78-68.
The Junior Webmasters will look to avenge that loss, this time in the championship stage.
The Junior Webmasters advanced to the finals after a dominating 76-62 win over the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars in the semifinals. UC finished the elimination round with an identical 8-1 (win-loss) record.
Before the main game, the Baby Jaguars will take on the Baby Panthers in the battle for third. (RSC)
