Tell it to SunStar: Importance of water

WE ALL know that water is very essential. We wouldn’t be able to survive and life on earth would cease to exist without it. It is the main requirement of every living cell, according to my science teacher.

In the data acquired from water.org, nine million Filipinos rely on unimproved, unsafe and unsustainable water sources. Our wants and needs are limitless but our resources aren’t. Hence, the young and old alike need to conserve water.

After reading about it and listening to my science class teacher, I realized that we should also not throw trash anywhere. Why? Do you want to drink water with a lot of tiny plastics and microorganisms?

It is funny to imagine a future where Filipinos run out of water considering the fact we are literally surrounded by water.

Water gives life. For children like me, what better way for us to enjoy life than to have enough water to live? Please join my innocent voice in fighting for the water that we, the future, really deserve--William Matthew Lim

‘Kaldero sa pulitika’M

I remember the commentators of old like the late Migs Enriquez always talking about what is called in Cebuano as “pagbukal sa kaldero sa pulitika” every time the political season nears.

I think by this time “nibukal na gyud ang kaldero sa pulitika” after the filing of the certificates of candidacy. Politicians are now very noisy trying to win over voters to their side.

I think it is still too early to campaign. They should start it during the campaign period next year. The problem is that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is not going after candidates who are campaigning too early.

Since this cannot be stopped, I advise the voters to instead use this time to start finding out what the programs of government of the candidates are so we will already know who we will be voting for in May next year.

Since they start early, let us also choose who we will vote for early. (Samson Diez, Cebu City)
