3T cops, volunteers to secure cemeteries

THE Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 will deploy more than 3,000 personnel and civilian volunteers to help secure cemeteries during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

Supt. Reyman Tolentin, PRO 7 spokesperson, said they will also tighten the security on seaports, airports and bus terminals to prevent possible smuggling of contraband.

He said more than 1,200 police officers and 1,900 peacekeeping volunteers will be deployed all over Central Visayas.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines-Central Command will also be tapped by PRO 7.

The final security layout for Nov. 1-2 will be completed this week, added Tolentin.

In Cebu City, some major public and Roman Catholic cemeteries are located in Barangays Carreta, Calamba and Pardo.

The private cemeteries are located in the barangays of Mabolo, Banilad and Talamban.

These cemeteries and nearby areas are expected to be packed with people.

Cebu City Police Office Director Royina Garma said sharp objects, alcoholic drinks and sound systems will not be allowed in the cemeteries.

The police will also coordinate with traffic offices of local government units to manage the flow of vehicles in the vicinity of cemeteries. (KAL)
