PUBLIC utility jeepneys (PUJ) plying Cebu City routes, especially areas with high criminality rates, will soon have dash cams installed in them.

The Cebu City Council approved this year’s P84.1-million fourth supplemental budget (SB 4) during its regular session yesterday.

The amount includes P5 million for dash cams that will be installed in 1,000 PUJs.

The fourth SB also covers P38,809,750 to buy a lot to be used as a relocation site for more than 200 Barnagay Mambaling residents.

It also includes P13 million worth of City-sponsored activities, P4 million for terminal leave beneficiaries, P332,000 for aid to barangays in prior years, P2.7 million for medical aid, and P10.6 million for the procurement of machinery and heavy equipment, and the construction of a drainage system along M.J. Cuenco Ave. going to Gen. Maxilom Ave.

Some P8 million is allocated for the purchase of a 50-seater bus to ferry passengers for free along the Banilad-Talamban (Ban-Tal) route during the morning rush hour.

During the budget hearing last week, Department of General Services chief Ronald Malacora said four buses are operating on Ban-Tal from 6 to 8 a.m., but there’s a need to add one more since Ban-Tal is one of the busiest routes in the city. (RTF)
