Oro mayoral candidate: I have no corruption case

CAGAYAN de Oro mayoral candidate Pompee La Viña has yet again hit fellow candidate incumbent City Mayor Oscar Moreno by accusing the latter as corrupt as he is facing supposedly more than 50 corruption cases.

In a Facebook post, La Viña said he is happy that Moreno wanted to talk about corruption as a platform because while the mayor deals with many cases, he on the other hand, got zero cases.

"Soon, Kagayanons will go through the ordeal seeing their Mayor arraigned for criminal cases at the Sandiganbayan," he said.

La Viña was however embroiled in a controversy after accusing members of the SSS Commission that they are using their positions to trade stocks for their personal gains. The Palace later found out that this was a "vilification campaign against 4 SSS executives who crossed his path."

He was fired from the agency after he "demanded" a P26 million-budget for his social media show.

But La Viña however said in his Facebook post on Monday that what former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced was "unauthorized press release" and even President Rodrigo Duterte called him and told him he did not believe any of it.

"He quickly promoted me to Undersecretary at the Department of Tourism and subsequently, Department of Agriculture," he said.

"Question: Where is Roque now?" La Vina asked rhetorically.

Meanwhile, Moreno is facing graft cases for the actions he did while he was governor of Misamis Oriental. Most of the violations were attributed to Moreno's failure to conduct public bidding in the rental of heavy equipment to build roads in the province.

Moreno insisted that these projects have benefited the people of Misamis Oriental, and that all of these cases are politically-motivated.
