Task force told to monitor public markets, cemeteries

BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia on Tuesday, October 23, ordered Task Force All Saints’ Day to monitor the public markets, plaza, and cemeteries in the city.

Executive assistant Ernesto Pineda, chief coordinator of Market Coordinating and Monitoring Task Force, said Tuesday the mayor issued a memorandum directing him to coordinate with the City Legal Office (CLO), Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), and Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) to ensure proper implementation and regulation of public markets, cemeteries, and plaza.

Pineda was also tasked to coordinate with the City Treasurer’s Office and the City Mayor’s Office-Permits and Licensing Division that all corresponding permits, licenses, and collection of special fees are duly applied and paid for.

Pineda said they already issued special permits to the flower vendors who will occupy in the designated areas at Libertad public market along Hernaez and Mabini Streets; Burgos public market along Burgos and Galo Streets; and Bacolod public plaza along San Juan, Gonzaga, and Gatuslao Streets.

Pineda said about 150 flower vendors have already secured special permits at the Government Center to display their flowers starting October 29 to November 2.

The flower vendors were required to pay P220 for a special permit, P100 business tax, and P100 for garbage fees.

Pineda said they will also regulate the kiosks along Burgos public cemetery by requiring the owners to apply for a special permit.

He said the Department of Public Services was also tasked for the maintenance of cleanliness and collection of garbage during and after the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.
