Buy only ICC marked lights, consumers told

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Davao will be intensifying its monitoring of substandard Christmas light in Davao City.

The monitoring team from DTI will be looking into sellers at Uyanguren, San Pedro, and Bajada because these are major areas where electrical products are being sold.

The monitoring team of DTI is conducting a weekly inspection in various stores.

DTI, in a statement, said consumers must only purchase Christmas lights with Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers or the Philippine Standard (PS) certification mark.

"For the year 2016, all ICC certificates for Christmas lights issued by BPS from 01 January 2013 up to the present shall be valid. Starting 2017, the validity of the ICC certificates issued for imported Christmas lights shall be for a period of five years," DTI said.

"This last quarter gyud ang intensify gyud namo ang monitoring, (We are intensifying the monitoring this last quarter)," Officer-in-charge of DTI 11 said during a press conference at the Habi at Kape, Abreeza Mall yesterday, October 24, 2018.

Roque said as of October 2018, there are no reported cases of factory defects on Christmas light.
