Auxiliaries to get P10,000 allowance

THE Volunteer Police Auxiliary (VPA) under the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will receive bigger allowance of P10,000 starting December this year, an official said.

DCPO spokesperson Police Senior Inspector Ma. Teresita Gaspan said during the AFP-PNP press forum on Wednesday, October 24, at The Royal Mandaya Hotel that Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio pledged to increase the allowance of the VPAs by P4,000 from their P6,000 current allowance.

“Napakalaking tulong po ng Police Auxiliary sa atin especially sa Davao City Police Office (DCPO),” Gaspan said.

VPA is part of the Oplan Integrated Revitalized Operation of Neighborhood-Watch for the Mega City (Iron City) program of DCPO launched last year. It is an upgraded integrated police patrol system aimed at making the city safer. This program further enhances police visibility which is a major factor in deterring crimes.

The volunteers' efforts were recognized as one of the factors in the crime rate reduction in the city. There were more than 900 VPAs who were deployed in different barangays in Davao City as force multipliers to assist the police in maintaining peace and order.

However, Gaspan said that they would still conduct screening among the VPAs for those who are qualified based on their performance.

Only those who reached one year could avail the additional pay while those who were just starting will received the same monthly allowance.
