Sungduan: Loacan outreach

A CASH donation worth P705,000 was given just recently to residents of Barangay Loacan, Itogon who were victims of super Typhoon Ompong.

Benguet Organization United Kingdom co-founders couple Archie and Grace Nabus together with some members of the group who are now based in the locality went to the said barangay on October 20 to personally express their heartfelt sympathies to the victims and their families.

This is also to personally turnover to the beneficiaries the financial assistance they raised through a fundraising drive on Facebook which was immediately launched after their treasurer Manang Tina who is from the said barangay relayed the heartbreaking news that most of the victims are her relatives.

First, they met with the municipal officials headed by Mayor Victorio Palangdan at the barangay assembly venue for the ceremonial turnover of the financial assistance.

Then the beneficiaries were gathered and called one by one to personally receive the cash amount from the members of and organizers of the project.

The organization listed a total of 29 residents as beneficiaries. Three of them are injured and 11 with house damages. The list of recipients were chosen by the community as their partner in the project.

Virginia Alis and Erlinda Siblag who lost a member of their family expressed their deep appreciation to the group for the help they received.

For his part Barangay Captain Andres Cuyan said no words can express the great kindness and gratitude they felt being a recipient of this outreach project initiated by London based OFWs.

The couple also visited some typhoon victims in Bokod and Kabayan to turnover financial help. They are also set to visit a barangay in Tuba for the same purpose.

Help is felt by victims if it is personally handed to them. May there be more groups like Benguet Org UK who will be there when help is needed the most.
