DCOTT ups bus trips for Undas

WITH the expected increase of number of passengers during the celebration of All Saints’ and Souls’ Day or Undas, Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) head Aisa Usop said that they will have 1,200 north and south bound bus trips and more bus reserves to accommodate everyone.

In regular days, Usop said that they have only 750 to 800 north and south bound bus trips, however, they already estimated and have prepared during peak seasons like Undas, Christmas, and Holy Week.

“Karon, dili na ginasunod ang interval kay mapuno man gyud na bisag wala pay time (This time (Undas season), buses will not follow the mandated interval time because people are expected to fill the buses before their departure time),” Usop said during the Ispeak media forum Wednesday, October 25.

She added that she already talked with the private bus companies to assure that there are reserved buses when there is a ballooning number of passengers.

Meanwhile, Usop said the security and safety measures are being tightened inside and outside DCOTT by strict check-ups of bags and luggage.

The 21 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras under Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) are also being monitored and checked regularly.

She also urged the public to travel earlier to avoid the heavy influx of passengers during Undas.

“Kung mahimo magsayo-sayo na siguro ta og byahe samtang wala pa nagdagsa kaayo kay kung magkaduol ang Undas, the more na magdaghan ang tao (If possible, passengers should travel earlier as now while there are still less people at the terminal. As Undas nears, there will be more travelers),” Usop said.

“Palihog pud nga dili na ta magdala ug mga hinagiban ug mga mahait na gamit (Please do not bring any sharp objects or deadly weapons),” she added. (LHC)
