POLICE arrested a former army personnel who yielded at least P1.3 million worth of illegal drugs in a drug bust, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Guillermo Eleazar said on Friday, October 26.

Eleazar said Johnven Arnaiz, 40, a former Philippine Army personnel, was arrested along with his cohorts identified as Valentine Arnaiz, 52 and Joseph Gabatbat, 37, at around 5 p.m. of October 25 at the parking lot of a mall in BF Homes in Parañaque City.

Eleazar said a joint team from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted the drug bust.

A poseur buyer allegedly purchased over P400,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) from Johnven Arnaiz.

During the arrest, authorities recovered from the suspects’ vehicle a firearm and at least five more grams of shabu.

The arresting team confiscated a total of 205 grams of shabu worth P1.36 million from the suspects.

Criminal cases for violation of Section 5 and 11 Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, are being prepared for filing against the suspects. (SunStar Philippines)
