THE Marco Polo Hong Kong hotels have been very busy in the last few weeks making rectifications for the damages caused by super typhoon Mangkhut. But hell or high water could not prevent the hotel group’s appointments to connect with media friends in a recent tri-city tour to Manila, Cebu and Davao. We were glad to see Marco Polo Hong Kong director of communications Samantha Poon again for one of her regular visits here. The weather was pleasant and cooperative the evening we met for dinner at the Blu Bar and Grill at the topmost floor of the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu. Over a lovely three-course dinner and free-flowing wine, Samantha made some important announcements from Hong Kong for the Philippine market.

Dalip Singh was appointed at the end of last year as the new general manager for all three Marco Polo Hong Kong hotels. Singh has under his belt over 20 years of expertise in hotel management and corporate operations, and has been instrumental in improved business performance and both employee and guest satisfaction.

With Hong Kong as one of the top destinations for Philippine travelers, Marco Polo makes it more enticing to stay with them by offering a 15 percent discount on direct bookings until March 2019. Discerning travelers can choose from the Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel, Gateway Hotel and Prince Hotel located on bustling and vibrant Canton Road, by Victoria Harbour in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui.

As in previous visits by Samantha and her team, raffle prizes were given out for three winners to enjoy complimentary upgrades to a suite in Marco Polo Hong Kong. And as in a previous visit, this writer was drawn in the raffle! Alas, I did not take home the prize this time as I had already left Blu by the time my name was drawn, since I had to rush to the airport on business. Online influencer Doyzkie Buenaviaje, and SunStar Cebu’s own Luis Quibranza III and Noel Villaflor were the three lucky gentlemen who will enjoy the luxurious upgrade, but everyone present took home a gift certificate for a two-night stay courtesy of Marco Polo Hong Kong.
