SM City to host cash-rich NBT Open

LOCAL and visiting bowlers will battle it out for the coveted crown in the cash-rich 10th Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (Cetba) NBT Open Championships 2018 on Nov. 6 to 11 at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center.

Hundreds of bowlers are expected to grace the event, which will shell out P80,000 as cash prize to the Open Masters champion and a P40,000 cash purse to the Seniors’ Masters champion.

The organizers said that Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) commissioner Ramon “El Presidente” Fernandez will grace the opening ceremony together with Cebu Province Gov. Hilario Davide III, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale and Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña.

The players outside Cebu who are coming are from Davao, Imus, Zamboanga, Lipa and Metro Manila.

The six-day tournament is sanctioned by the Philippine Bowling Congress and the National Bowling Tour and will adopt a singles classic format with two divisions—the Open Masters and Seniors’ Masters for bowlers 50-years-old and above.

The runners-up in both divisions will also receive cash prizes. The second to fifth placers in the Open Masters will win P40,000, P20,000, P10,000 and P5,000, respectively while the sixth to eighth placers will receive P2,000 each.

For the Seniors’ Masters, the second to fifth placers will receive P20,000, P10,000, P5,000 and P3,000, respectively.

A perfect game is worth P20,000 and will be divided equally if there are multiple winners.

Minor prizes will also be handed out; the singles champion will pocket P5,000, while the next two placers will earn P3,000 and P2,000, respectively.

The high game of the tournament for scratch and with handicap will each get P2,000.

Registration fee is P3,100 inclusive of two sets of three games. The re-entry fee is at P500 and double-up fee for entering both Seniors and Open is at P1,000. RSC
