FIFTEEN provincial and district hospitals received an emergency van each worth P865,000. The Cebu Provincial Government hopes to make it easier for hospitals in towns and component cities to get supplies or follow up transactions at the Capitol, as well as transport patients.

Capitol officials turned over the 15 Mitsubishi L300 vans Friday, Oct. 26, at the basketball court of the Capitol Compound. They were received by the heads of the provincial and district hospitals.

Those who received the aid were the provincial hospitals in the cities of Bogo, Carcar, Danao and the town of Balamban. Other recipients are Badian District Hospital; Bantayan District Hospital; Barili District Hospital; Daanbantayan District Hospital; Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Argao; Mariano Jesus Cuenco Memorial Hospital in Malabuyoc; Ricardo L. Maningo Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, Camotes; Tuburan District Hospital; Dr. Jose Maria V. Borromeo Memorial Hospital in Pinamungajan; Oslob District Hospital and the Juan Dosado Memorial Hospital in Sogod.

The van intended for the Minglanilla District Hospital is still being processed.

Capitol spent P12.9 million for the vans.

Gov. Hilario Davide III said that the distribution of emergency vehicles is the fulfillment of Capitol’s promise to improve the mobility in town hospitals.

He reminded hospital management to always give quality service to their patients.

Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale said this only shows how Davide’s administration prioritizes health programs—a demand from the public.

Dr. Olivia Dandan, chief of the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Balamban, said that the van is very important in transporting patients who need to undergo laboratory tests in another facility. SGC
