CAGAYAN de Oro’s biggest youth football club, Higala Football Club, is sending five strong teams to the Pinas Cup football tournament set to kick off today at the Clark Freeport fields in Pampanga.
Higala FC coaches Jeremy Jablo, Paul Cabio, and John Kerbie Relova are with the players accompanied by some football parents.
CDO United/Rosevale School has merged with Higala FC to form a title contender team in the Boys 16 Division.
The CDO United/Rosevale players include Charlson Carlyle Dy, John Jesse Gementiza, Jeff Lawrence Cascara, Paolo Butaslac, July Vicente, Van Alvin Orate, Joshua Montesino, and Joshua Barrera.
The Boys 12 category is made up of some players who will be playing for the Cagayan de Oro team in the NMRAA meet in December in Tangub City and the players who saw action in the Palaro in Vigan last summer.
They include Francis Iverson Sambaan, Kinsey Drew Yanez, Armand Noel Lugod, Jrand Hortilano, Don Benedict Ebuna, and Rawinque Gementiza,
The Girls 18 category is also strong however coach Paul Cabio is sending a very young team which include players from St. Mary’s School, Bulua National High School and Rosevale School. They will be spiced up by veterans like Andrea Cabactulan, and Melgrace Camarillo.
This will be for the first time that Higala FC will compete in the Pinas Cup without their club founder and head coach Weng Dela Riarte who has migrated just recently to Australia to be with his wife. Former Davao Aguilas defender John Kerbie Relova has taken over as coach.
