Tarlac is 2018 National Kabalikat awardee

THE Provincial Government of Tarlac was awarded by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority [Tesda] as 2018 National Kabalikat awardee under the local government unit category during the recent 24th Tesda Founding Anniversary at the Women’s Center in Taguig City.

Tarlac, under the leadership of Governor Susan Yap, was cited for its exemplary contribution in the advancement of Technical Vocational Education and Training.

The Kabalikat award in one of Tesda’s reward mechanism in giving due recognition and honor to its outstanding partners in the promotion and enhancement of technical education and skill development.

Provincial Administrator Roberto Ventura received the trophy and a plaque of recognition from Tesda director general Guiling Mamondiong. It was the province’s third time to capture the national award, the first was in 2015 and the other was in 2017.

Motivated by the award, Ventura said, “Providing opportunities to Tarlaqueños has been the one of the priorities of the Yap administration.”

In a statement, Yap thanked Tesda for the award and to the Training and Placement Network Office [TPNO] and vowed for the continued support to the training programs for Tarlaqueños.

“I thank the Tesda for the award and also the TPNO, for their untiring hard work and commitment, I will continue to invest in the trainings of Tarlaqueños,” Yap said. “With the construction of the New Clark City, our kababayans have the advantage because of some of these Tarlac-Tesda designed training programs,” the governor added.

Yap personally received the Regional Kabalikat award from regional director Dante Navarro during Tesda’s recognition ceremony held in the City of San Fernando.

TPNO head Maria Lira Reyes, said, “This year’s regional award was the province’s fourth, the first was in 2013 and the others are in 2015 and in 2017.”

The provincial government spends P500 to P1,000 per trainee and more than 36,000 Tarlaqueños have already benefited from the various livelihood trainings and job referrals from Tarlac-Tesda partnership.

The province has donated over P13-million worth of land, equipment and facilities to Tesda for the last 15 years.

Tarlac got 100 percentage points in all the criterions and indicators for the award.

Tesda confers the award annually to local government units, legislative offices, private firm and companies in recognition of their outstanding programs, practice and innovations in relation to the promotion and development of human resources in terms of skills, abilities, attitude and values.
