Mercado: Alex C. as Joshua

TO FREE the chosen people from Pharaoh’s bondage, it took a biblical era for Moses and his chief minister Joshua to finally cross the river Jordan safely.

Sayeth the Lord to Joshua, ”There shall not be any man be able to stand before thee all the days of my life: as I was with Moses. So I will be with thee: I will not fail thee nor forsake thee only be thou strong and courageous.”

Many religious of Angeles City conjure the tandem of Moses and Joshua of the old testament as today’s EdPam and Alex Cauguiran. The latter set Pinatubo embattled Angeles free from the tyranny of darkness, hopelessness and despair.

Without their vision, their perseverance and creativity Angeles could not have rehabilitated and rebuilt itself in the fastest time.

And the Lord commanded Joshua that for every tribe of Israelites, the men should carry a corresponding number of stones on their shoulders.

The storied stones was a memorial of Joshua’s inspiration and strong leadership. In Angeles the historic partnership swore to carry out a Social Contract with the People led by EdPam and his chief minister.

Once again EdPam’s Joshua was in his master’s long lasting legacy.

While the times have changed, Alex remains the chief heir to that legacy.

I see the shadow of the former President (GMA) behind the Great Truce between the Pinedas and Bondocs. Followers of both clans should not expect total support of their principals in town politics. It takes the charm and magic of GMA to unify Rimpy and Delta.

Late TODA reports have Edu Pamintuan in the frontline for vice mayor.... A shaping new favorite for city council bets in Angeles is broadcaster, newsman, communicator Jay Pelayo 1V, spokeperson of Mayor EdPam. His dad was former Social Welfare Secretary Dr. Jose Pelayo Sr. under Prsident D. Macapagal in i964.
