SEVERAL fashion pieces from Mindanao were among the products highlighted during the recently concluded Mindanao Trade Expo in Glorietta Mall, Makati City.

The MTE has traditionally been held in Davao City for the past 22 years. Since last year, though, it has been staged in the said major mall in Metro Manila.

MTE Foundation, Inc. president Rosevic Del Rosario-Cembrano said that this year’s edition of the MTE Goes to Glorietta show was an improvement of 2017.

The products of this year’s exhibitors underwent major improvements through DTI’s OTOP Next Gen and Brand Equity Development (BrED) programs.

She explained that the latter aims to further improve the potential of homegrown brands by offering them an upgraded platform to display their goods.

“Under the program, the products of MSMEs are provided with enhanced logos, better packaging and labelling, as well as other collateral designs,” she said.

The MTE Goes to Glorietta 2018 served as a venue to promote the wearable and homestyle items that were designed in collaboration with popular Japanese fashion designer Shinichi Ito.

“Through this program, the products of our MSMEs have really levelled up in terms of quality,” the industry leader said.

Aside from fashion accessories, home décor and furnishings, furniture, lamps and lighting, architectural fitting and visual arts, festive and seasonal décor, gift items, apparel, fashion accessories, fashion textile, health and wellness, processed food, fresh fruits and vegetables were also part of the five-day trade event held in October.

The MTE Goes to Glorietta fair cornered a total of P22,678,599.40 in sales. Of this figure, P5,639,149.40 accounted for cash sales, P3,823,783 was for booked sales, and P13,215,667 worth areunder negotiation.
