P54-M shabu seized from 'Cotabato group'

AT LEAST eight kilos of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth over P54 million were seized from three suspects who are believed to be part of a group from Cotabato City that is operating in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Calabarzon.

The suspects were arrested in a drug bust at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 29, at the parking lot of Victory Mall, 12th Avenue, Grace Park, Caloocan City.

They were identified as Nasrudin Mantikayan, Ibrahim Hassan and Ampal Pala.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Guillermo Eleazar said follow-up operations were being conducted against the leaders of the group.

He said the NCRPO Regional Drugs Enforcement Unit (RDEU) has been conducting surveillance and intelligence operations on the group in the past four months, after another suspect caught in a drug bust a few months back pointed to the group.

“Itong grupong ito ay minomonitor natin, kung titignan natin puro sila Muslim at ang pinanggalingan din nito ay mga Muslim din galing Mindanao. Merong mga nagmamando sa kanila galing sa Cotabato na nagbibigay ng instructions dito,” Eleazar added.

“Galing sila sa Cotabato. Meron din silang mga boss na galing sa Cotabato na siyang subject natin ng follow up,” he added.

Eleazar said charges of violation of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were being prepared while further investigation is ongoing.

“Konektado sa Muslim group ang ating initially na pinag-aaralan but with the arrest of three suspects itutuloy natin yung pagtrace sa pinanggalingan nito and then you can trace it to other groups na dati nang inooperate,” he said. (SunStar Philippines)
