ADDU battles with SHS-Cebu

THE Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) is playing with the host team and defending champion Sacred Heart School (SHS) of Cebu City in its turf as of presstime for the crossover semifinals of the ongoing Jesuit Athletic Meet (JAM) 2019 Junior Basketball Tournament.

ADDU holdovers and starters Marione Angeles, Christian Bacalso and Joachim Weil reunited with their former teammate Joshua Barrientos, who now plays with the opposite team since 2017.

ADDU head coach Jess Evangelio only promised to do whatever they can but could never assure the win against the much-bigger team.

The team secured the slot to the semifinals after winning two games in-a-row.

They demolished Xavier University (XU) of Cagayan 87-53, before posting an 86-57 rout victory over Ateneo de Iloilo University on Saturday.

But the heavy-favorite Ateneo de Manila University, led by 7-foot-5 Kai Sotto, finished Addu's winning streak with more than 30-point lead.

Evangelio only hopes to pull it off against the host city. (ABM)
