Bacolod willing to join Davao’s Kadayawan Festival

THE City Government of Bacolod is willing to join the Kadawayan Festival in Davao City in August 2019.

This was the response of Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia to the open invitation of the Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio during the highlights of 39th MassKara Festival Saturday afternoon at the public plaza.

“We want to join and we will just take care of our elections before that. If we will be in the administration next year, definitely we will do. We are thankful to Mayor Sara,” Leonardia said.

The Davao City mayor earlier said she is inviting the MassKara street dancing participants to join them in next year’s Kadawayan Festival.

Duterte-Carpio, who watched the performances of the MassKara street and arena schools category, also gave P10,000 each for the 11 entries that joined the Masskara street and arena competition in the schools category.

Meanwhile, Leonardia also expressed his support on the statement of the Davao City mayor that the Bacoleños should unite in choosing their leaders.

“The call of Mayor Sara for unity is supposedly universal because that is what could happen when our city officials are working together. Like here in Bacolod City, our mayor and congressman are working together for the development of the city,” Leonardia said.

He said that because of his good relationship with Congressman Greg Gasataya, it resulted in more projects and development for Bacolod.

“Because we are working together, there’s a big difference in the implementation of projects compared to the previous administration,” he added.
