FRESH from bringing home a bronze medal in the Asian games, Baguio pride Divine Wally bagged another medal in international competition.

The University of the Cordilleras (UC) student Wally took home the bronze medal during the 9th Sanda World Cup (9th SWC) in Hangzhou, China during the weekend.

Fellow Filipino Arnel Mandal won the gold while France Alo Solis settled for silver in the two-day tournament.

Prior to her stint in the World Cup, Wally became a two time gold medalist in 2016 when she took the gold during the 8th edition of Sanda World Cup, also in China and in the 9th Asian Wushu Championship in Taipei.

Wally was also a gold medalist in the 13th World Wushu Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2015.

Wally earlier clinched a bronze medal in the Asian Games held in August this year after failing to reach the championship round of the -52kg division with a 1-2 loss to Elaheh Marsoryan Samiroumi of Iran in the knockout semifinals.

The UC Mapeh student beat Selviah Pertiwi of Indonesia in the quarterfinal round then started strong against Samiroumi and took a 1-0 lead after the first round but surrendered the next two to her taller foe.

The 9th SWC is the official world cup event which is hosted by the International Wushu Federation which takes place biennially and features the top Sanda athletes from the previous world wushu championships. (Roderick Osis)
