Pacya: Early gift for LT coops; Concerts for-a-cause

THE cooperative month ends today but the spirit of cooperativism in La Trinidad shall forever be burned.

After the two-day onsite evaluation of the screening committee, the municipality of La Trinidad defended its feat as the Best Performing Local Government Unit (LGU)-Cooperative Development Services Office during the National Gawad Parangal Awarding Ceremonies conducted at Novotel, Araneta Center, Quezon City. The municipality topped the municipal category with Marilao, Bulacan occupying the second spot.

The program is an annual activity of the Cooperative Development Authority that aims to recognize top performing cooperatives, co-op leaders, federations, councils and LGUs.

Last 2017, the municipality garnered the same award and is determined to do well for the third streak next year. Congratulations to the other co-ops and LGUs from the Cordillera that also brought home awards. The LGU of Kalinga Province Co-op Office landed third in the Best Performing LGU-Provincial Category. Topdac Multipurpose Cooperative bagged third under the Best Performing Coop-Small Category while Sagubo Multipurpose Cooperative got a special citation on its exemplary environmental protection and conservation programs.

I give my salute to the cooperative champions of La Trinidad, the cooperative sector and stakeholders, the LGU officials and employees for the unceasing upkeep for co-op development. Let this award be an inspiration for the LGU and for the movement to sustain transforming communities.

Many groups of people organized themselves as non-government organization with the aim of helping other people. By promoting local artists, the Astin Civic Working Group started its journey as Good Samaritans to the sick just last year. The organization is founded by Ms. Cristina Simeon and is headed by its president Mr. Andrew Paulino, Jr.

Just last October 18, the NGO held a concert for-a-cause at the Kinouboyan Bar, Baguio City intended to four beneficiaries including my father who is undergoing twice-a-week dialysis.

On behalf of our family, I would like to give thanks to all those who supported the activity. To our relatives, friends, sponsors, performers, organizers and the owners of the bar, thank you for the solid support you have shown during the night. We are grateful for the sacrifices that you made for the success of the activity. This means a lot to our family and to the other beneficiaries, and I hope that you will continue supporting the same events in the future. We also ask for your prayers for the continuous health improvement of our dad.

If you need assistance or if you know someone in need, you can contact the organization’s number at 0927-493-4191 or 0928-191-3500.
