SAN SIMON -- As part of its sustained goal of providing social services to Simonians, non-government organization Ing Sandigan on Monday held a feeding program for hundreds of students in Barangay Dela Paz here.

The locally-based group, in partnership with the Alpha Beta Mu Engineering Society (ABM-ES), fed some 850 barangay day care center and Dela Paz Elementary School students with nutritious pre-packed rice meals and juice drinks.

According to Ing Sandigan founding member Enix Salvador, the activity is the continuation of the activities conducted by the group that aims to provide additional assistance to needy Simonians.

“This is still part of our group’s mission which is to provide a “sandigan” (someone to lean on) or alternative option of Simonians who need help but cannot be catered by the government,” said Salvador who is also running for councilor of this town.

Ing Sandigan co-founding member and ABM-ES member Rommel Bondoc, for his part, said that the group is also set to provide different kinds of social services including medical missions and feeding programs in the remaining 13 barangays of this town.

“We are partnering with our friends from different organizations such as Rotary Clubs and this ABM to provide better assistance to our fellow Simonians. Hopefully by next year, we can also give scholarship grants to Simonian youth,” Bondoc, who seeks to reclaim the vice-mayoralty post here, said.

ABM-ES President Engr. Benjie Fabian, for his part, lauded the Ing Sandigan group for sharing the same vision and mission of helping the needy and marginalized member of the society.

“We are more than happy to extend our assistance to Simonians and we wanted to recognize the initiative and equal efforts of Ing Sandigan group for having the heart for the needy and inviting us here,” he said.
