NDA, city ink partnership on milk feeding program

AT LEAST 1,230 kids in 14 barangays in Cagayan de Oro will benefit the milk feeding program of the City Government and National Dairy Authority (NDA).

The city and NDA on Monday, October 29, inked a partnership which aims to provide fresh milk to children ages 3-5 years old and enrolled in Child Development Centers.

The program will start in November until March of 2019.

Rocky Calingin, overseer of the City Agriculture Office said both the city and NDA allocated a total of P2 million for the Community School Milk Feeding Program.

The NDA will source the fresh milk from Highland Fresh.

Mayor Oscar Moreno said the project is part of his commitment to prioritize the children's nutrition.

"For two consecutive years, we are a Green Banner Awardee, an award given to local government units whose nutrition program is successful. We hope to achieve the same recognition next year and become a national awardee. Before 2017, it took me a while to fix our nutrition program but we are hoping we can continue this momentum," Moreno said.

"If this program will be proven successful, we can continue it and possibly add more budget for this," he added.
