Local health researchers convene

HEALTH industry and academic researchers in the region convened recently to share their innovations as they tackled issues and concerns they faced in their field under the theme “Research and Innovations: Linking Theory and Practice.” They gathered at Cebu Normal University (CNU) for three days for the 3rd Annual Central Visayas Health Research and Innovation Conference with the support of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the region.

Conducted under the auspices of the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), institutional members of the Central Visayas Consortium for Health Research Development (CVCHRD) also renewed their commitment and welcomed new institutions into the fold.

CVCHRD chairman Enrico B. Gruet welcomed the delegates who got inspirational messages from DOST 7 Director Edilberto L. Paradela and CNU president Filomena T. Dayagbil.

They started the conference with a forum on Biotechnology that had podium presentations by both professionals and students, as the gathering recognized midway those who demonstrated commitment, excellence and collaboration.

The conference had three plenary sessions: “Key Challenges in Research Innovations: From Research to Development,” “Engaging in Society of Health Research Communicators: The Role of Science Communication in Promoting Research and Innovation” and “Science in Transition: Opportunities and Challenges.”
