A TOTAL of 250 flower vendors in Bacolod City secured special permits to sell from October 29 to November 2 for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Executive assistant Ernesto Pineda, chief coordinator of Market Coordinating and Monitoring Task Force, said yesterday the flower vendors were selling in the areas of Libertad public market along Hernaez and Mabini Streets; Burgos public market along Burgos and Galo Streets; and Bacolod public plaza along San Juan, Gonzaga, and Gatuslao Streets.
He said the vendors paid P200 for the special permit and another P200 for the garbage fees, adding they are still accepting applicants for a special permit.
Pineda noted they also required the kiosks along Burgos public market to secure a special permit to sell candles among others.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier ordered the Task Force All Saints’ Day to monitor and assist in the implementation and regulation of public markets, plaza, and cemeteries in the city.
Pineda was tasked to coordinate with the City Legal Office (CLO), Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), and Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) to ensure proper implementation and regulation of public markets, cemeteries, and plaza.
City Administrator John Orola said they also reminded the city’s garbage hauler IPM-Construction and Development Corp. (IPM-CDC) as well as the Department of Public Services (DPS) to collect the garbage in various public cemeteries.
“They should maintain the sanitation campaign during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day,” he said.
Orola also urged the BCPO to continue providing the safe environment in various cemeteries. (MAP)
