Full alert for All Souls’ Day

AUTHORITIES are on full alert for Undas 2018 in line with their Oplan Kaluluwa starting Thursday, November 1.

A day before the expected influx of visitors in cemeteries, Davao Police Regional Office (PRO-11) Director Marcelo Morales together with Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director Alexander C. Tagum inspected vital areas such as terminals in Davao City.

Morales said in a press forum that they have already coordinated with their counterparts in the Armed Forces of the Philippines and other law enforcement agencies to ensure the peaceful observance of All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day.

They also increased police visibility in different communities through the help of barangay officials to prevent robbers from taking advantage of unmanned houses.

"I am reminding the public to be wary and alert so as not to give lawless elements the opportunity to carry out their nefarious activities and I am asking for your full cooperation in the implementation of our safety measures,” Morales said.

They also dispatched some personnel to tourist destinations and malls.

In Davao Region, the police will secure 264 cemeteries.

Meanwhile, Tagum said that they have been on full alert since Tuesday, October 30.

He said more personnel were deployed this year as he assured that public safety is their top priority.

Davao police have deployed a total of 1,451 personnel in all provinces in Davao region in addition to their personnel who will be deployed in different cemeteries excluding the force multipliers.

They reminded the public of the prohibited items that should not be brought inside the cemeteries including alcoholic beverages, speakers, gambling materials, bladed weapon, and among others.
